Get started

in karting

We're happy to help you get started. Below are five simple steps you will need to follow but if you need help along the way please contact our member liaison officer.

Join our club. As well as racing enjoy discounted unlimited practice all year round.

For more information and fees click here.

Before you can race or practice you must have a Karting NSW practice or race license.

Applying for a Karting NSW Licence can be done online by clicking below. You will be redirected to the MyKartingPortal at Karting NSW.

There are many classes available through Karting NSW. There is a class to suit all ages and abilities. These include the 4 stroke class (4SS), the high performance TaG (Touch and Go), two stroke 125cc watercooled class and a range of others.

Before buying a kart research which class you would like to compete in. You can find information in the Karting NSW Rule Book (available below) or please reach out to one of our members who will be happy to help you.

Getting the right kart and safety gear can be very confusing. There are some great sites and videos that can help you. These are all listed on our useful links page.

Also please reach out to any of our members who will be happy to help. All their contact details are on our contact  page.

Before you go for a run the first time we'll arrange for one of our members to meet up with you to go through a few things you need to know such as practice procedures, sign on, track direction and a check of your kart and safety gear.

We'll also go over the driving test which is required before you participate in a competition.
